Hamara Bharath Mahan (!?!)

Disclaimer: Firstly this is personal opinion, I just thought it's high time we spent some time in retrospection on the current state of affairs in India. Bharath here implies INDIA ;)
On a serious note, whats happening in India? Secular India... We are the engineers of our country, but how is the knowledge put into use, making bombs using ammonium nitrate, hacking into accnts and sending mails, sending mails from fake accounts. Shame on us. We see movies like rang de basanti... we see the news with blood splattered bodies lying around crying for help, we VOW to bring about change in our country, we talk ILL about our politicians, frankly what else do we do? n yes we write essays on our vision for INDIA... even if it's purely for the credit;).
Extremism exists in all religions. Tolerance has gone down too low. Atrocities against christians, recent ones being in Orissa, has been on the rise. The hindu-muslim riots can be traced back to our independence. We blame Jinnah and Pakistanies blame Ghandiji/Nehru.
The recent bomb blasts in Delhi with IM claiming responsibility for it is THE final straw. The most depressing fact is that these terror attacks have their origin from Indian soil, the devil is within our country itself. B'lore,Hyderabad, Jaipur and now Delhi. Mumbai and karnataka on red alert... frankly is it time to declare emergency rule here? like during the time of Indira Gandhi, clean up the dirty politics and bring the terrorists to court.

writing about making changes is easy..... application is difficult...
the problem is that we don't know what to do...hope that atleast our generation tries to keep away from corrupt ways....i think thats the most we could do in our positions...

actually yes.. corruption is rampant, falling prey is easy, since getting things easily and fast is soo required nowadays. I guess even just sayin that is easy, v'll hav to see when we go out in the "real, big" world

Once you declare emergency, you say we need to clean up the country.. But then how do you go about doing it? There is where the problem lies.

I have a take on the extremism and stuff like that. It is sort of more psychological than religious. When a person is really in a stew, he tends to often misinterpret harmless things to be the cause of his misery, and tends to vent his anger on them. And since for our country independence was an end rather than a beginning, we never had much plans. Consequently, we have a technology deprived, overcrowded nation. That sums up to a lot of people feeling miserable.

I think we might be an overcrowded nation, but we are not technology deprived. We have been the number one in many leading fields in technology. The media is responsible for creating such a negative image of India. Everyday, the front page would be about some death or killing or extremism, whereas advancements in technology are somewhere buried inside the paper. If you take any other country's leading newspapers, the gory details of any kind of calamity is somewhere inside whereas the good things are always in the front page. This was mentioned in a speech by Abdul Kalam in Hyderabad.
